Tiger Security was awarded the contract to install a new security system in Carmel College’s historic villa. The villa is a landmark building on the campus of the North Shore Catholic college for girls. The security system for the villa is an extension of the school’s current Inner Range Integriti. A connecting LAN cable was required from the villa to the closest security expander in an adjoining block. Earthworks were required to dig a 50m trench through soil and asphalt and underground ducting laid to carry connecting security, data and electrical cables. Tiger Security engaged Virtuoso Landscape Design to complete the earthworks and re-pave the asphalt areas.
The villa was fitted with new PIR sensors, internal siren, and keypad. One of the challenges we faced was a requirement in the security specification for the fitting of door reeds and cabling for them. The doors were still of the original type prevalent in older buildings with window panes above and to the side of the door leaf, making it impossible to position cables for door reeds in a way which would not detract from the building’s aesthetic look. This issue was overcome by the installation of wireless door reeds made by Inovonics.
The project was successfully completed in June 2021.
