Tiger Security recently completed a comprehensive security project as part of the Block B refurbishment project at Glendowie College, delivering a solution that balanced construction demands with uninterrupted site protection.
Working within an active school environment undergoing significant building works required a methodical and adaptable approach. A key priority was maintaining the integrity of the school’s alarm system throughout the refurbishment, including during scheduled power shutdowns and staged construction activity. Our team ensured continuous protection by carefully managing system continuity at every phase.
As demolition and reconstruction progressed, existing security infrastructure required modification. This included the disconnection of devices in designated work zones, along with the re-routing of security cabling in areas impacted by structural changes. Where surface-mounted cabling existed, it was upgraded and concealed within wall cavities or ceiling spaces to improve both protection and aesthetic finish.
The project also involved the installation of new security components to strengthen coverage across the refurbished block. Four new Optex MOE-approved PIR sensors were supplied, cabled, and installed to deliver reliable motion detection. In addition, two new external sirens were installed to enhance audible alert capability and site deterrence.
Redundant and outdated equipment was safely removed and disposed of, ensuring the system remained efficient and fit-for-purpose. An outdoor CCTV camera was also relocated to align with the new layout and maintain optimal surveillance coverage.
Following completion of the physical works, the system underwent full programming, testing, and commissioning. This ensured all components were fully integrated and operating as intended, providing the school with a robust and modernised security solution.
